On Monday November 8, 2021, Darem visited La Romana, Dominican Republic, to participate in a nutrition and physical activity event by Fundación Viva de Colores.
Fundación Viva de Colores, a non-profit organization established by hotel chain Viva Resorts, focuses primarily on supporting education as the pillar of development in the Dominican Republic. In 2014, the organization founded a school to provide education and training needs to children between 4-11 in the municipality of Villa Hermosa, La Romana.
During the event, Darem assisted with the delivery of nutrition and physical activity lessons and games where children got the opportunity to learn about food groups, a balanced diet and the concept of Energy in = Energy out. Parents and teachers were also provided with educational materials to encourage the transfer of information from the classroom to the family, because a healthy lifestyle can be fun!
