March is National Nutrition Month and we wanted to share some easy tips and helpful information to help you choose delicious and nutrient-rich foods each day! because healthy eating is easy and delicious.
- Incorporate a variety of foods on your plate each day.
- Select products from each of the 5 basic food groups
- Grains, Proteins
- Fruits
- Vegetables
- Dairy (don’t forget that you can get your calcium from non-dairy products!).
- Select products from each of the 5 basic food groups
- When possible, choose fresh and unprocessed foods
- Select seasonal products, whole grains and prepare your meals at home.
- Make sure your plate incorporates a variety of colors
- Aim for a different fruits and vegetables (and make it 5 portions each day).
- Remember to read your label
- Limit the consumption of salty and sugary foods.
- Drink plenty of water!
- Don’t forget to choose healthy fats and lean proteins!
